Roof Repairs
We are very blessed to have raised enough money to go ahead with the roof repairs we so badly needed.
Work will commence on Monday 4th September and the contract end date is 26th January. However, the contractor is hoping to have the vast majority completed prior to Christmas. Work will shut down over Christmas 23rd Dec – 8th Jan
Externally the work area will be the entire length of the North Aisle, extending just past the corner where the Church bell is located. The area will extend out to around where the path is located alongside the church. There will be no major impact on the driveway, (except right on the corner).
There will be a wooden hoarding erected to 3.5m around the work area, but an access tunnel will be provided to North Aisle Door
Similar scaffolding will be erected around the vestry for South side works, and there will be a compound (fenced) on the East End of the North Aisle in the current flagged area.
Contractors will need the parking bays on North Side of Church for loading and unloading during work hours.
Noise will be kept to a minimum but due to nature of work there will be some.
Internally the North Aisle will be partitioned off to the ceiling. To minimise the impact on the work, it is proposed that mid-week services and other weekday activities before 5pm are moved to other locations. Mothers’ Union, Gateway and Wednesday Communion services will be moved to the upper hall. The church will only be used for funerals during the week, apart from Christmas Journey week, when work will stop.
We will update you as work progresses
